This event is in the past.
For the club's January 2016 meeting we'll be catching up with our friends at the Rock Bottom Brewery & Restaurant in the Waterfront. Head brewer Meg Evans will be on hand to show us around and answer any questions we have.
Please RSVP here if you're going to attend.
As is always the case, please bring homebrew to share. Bring it in any format - bottles, growlers, kegs, canteens, leather satchels, sheep bladders, whatever you usually carry your beer in. Bring beer, share it with friends, get feedback.
Also, as always, please plan to say thanks to Rock Bottom for hosting us by buying yourself a pint or two and perhaps consider grabbing lunch from the restaurant while you're there. We're very lucky to have so many breweries in town willing to host us. If we continute to treat them well, they'll continue to treat us well.
We will be continuing with our quarterly mini competitions at this meeting. The theme for this quarter is Porters - bring your best example of any of the porter styles defined in the 2015 BJCP guidelines. The winner will be decided by votes cast by those on hand to try them. The winning brewer can then lead a discussion of brewing they style. The valid styles are:
- 9C. Baltic Porter
- 13C. English Porter
- 20A. American Porter
- 27G. Pre-Prohibition Porter
Please note that flavored porters - coffee, hazelnut, chocolate, raspberry, etc. - don't fall into these categories and shouldn't be entered here.
